Nagó: 1. Name the Fon gave to the Yoruba living in Benin. // 2. Single membrane drums with a cylindrical or conic box that are directly struck. The membrane is generally stretched by ropes or straps joined to a rolled rope surrounding the middle circle of the box where it is adjusted by parietal tension wedges. They are called bulá, coupe and gonde. // 3. One of the cults in Haitian voodoo ceremonies. // 4. Dance performed by one or several soloists in a group maintaining a relationship among themselves. As rites in this cult are closely related with war and warriors, strong head, shoulder, arm, torso and pelvis movements characterize the dance.

Nea (Enea): Name given to the tough bark of some plants, especially plantain stems.

Negro curro: Name given to black men who came to Cuba from Andalusia during the last century. They dressed oddly and talked with an exaggerated Andalusian accent to distinguish themselves from the bozales (blacks who had come directly from Africa) and from Creole blacks.

Nengón: Joyful dance in couples. Arms move as if drawing water from a well. It can be considered a variation of changüí.

Ngangulero: Small drum, with a 15 cm diameter and 12 cm high and a box made of a single piece of wood. Nailed to the box is a single bull hide or, more often, the hide of a male goat slaughtered for the purpose. It is stretched with fire. Nganga or nganguleros, that is, Congo witches, are the only ones who use it, thus its name.

Ngoma: Bantu or Congo drums with barrel staves and a nailed drumhead. They are tuned with fire.
