Felpilla: Machine embroidery made following a drawing on the material. A narrow stick or nylon thread is placed on top of the line of the drawing and the threaded needle jumps from side to side covering it. Then the stick is removed and placed next to where it was and the process is repeated as many times as necessary to complete the work. The result is an area covered with somewhat bulky parallel lines.

Fijo (punto) (fixed): The punto fijo or Camagüeyano is a type of peasant music that does not change its melody or its air. Instrumental accompaniment is independent and refrains are frequent.

Filstiré: Hand embroidery made by backstitching the contour of a drawing. Then threads are removed from the material inside. It is usually embroidered with a thread the same color of the material. It can also be machine made. Then threads materials, are not removed, but the embroidery is made directly on the material filling the drawing with a network of fine threads.

Finca (farm): Term used since the colonial times to identify real estate like houses or buildings in urban areas, and sugar mills, coffee plantations, cattle breeding estates, etc., in rural areas. Today the term has come to mean agriculture and cattle breeding lands where the producer and his family usually live. In the western part of the country, the term is colloquially used for small rural settlements.

Frivolité: Weaving technique where a small round device is used instead of needles. Some small rings are formed that are then adequately joined together. It is used in collars, blouses, table runners and lady's handkerchiefs.

Fronté: One of the dances of Tumba Francesa societies. It is considered a variation of yubá and is performed after it. Men are the main dancers and make their evolutions in front of the drums, thus its name, while women dance around them. Steps are slow and deliberate; strong steps, long, very marked and following a cadence, are extemporized. A controversy is established with the premier drum. A yubá beat is used.

Fuete: Part of the tail from which the plumb line and the hooks hang.
