Orilé (cordón de) (Orile's Chord): Choruses of spiritualist religious rites or spiritualist centers. Their beliefs and practices is an interesting mixture of Allan Kardec's eschatological spiritualism with traditional Christianity, whether Catholic or Protestant. Choruses of many voices, from twenty to a hundred, according to the attendance of devotees, sing the cantos de cordón (cordón chants) or cantos de orilé (orilé chants) in what they term "spiritual masses" and in other acts. While singing, the members of the chorus move rhythmically in "chains" or "chords", generally around some persons possessed by spirits or of mediums who, inspired in trance by some "space being", give them advice on how to act, how to heal the sick, and other things.
